Softball standout Chris Notareschi was one of the top offensive players of the 1990's for the Youngstown State program.
She was one of the top sluggers in school history by the time her career ended, setting program marks for home runs (18) and runs batted in (103). She ranked second in hits (169), second in slugging percentage (.504), second in doubles (29) and third in runs scored (84) and batting average (.323).
Notareschi, who played third base, was the first player in school history to belt four homers in a season (1995 and 1997) before launching eight during the 1998 campaign.
In 524 career at bats, Notareschi had 169 hits for a .322 batting average.
During her career, she was a two-time all-conference pick and was named to the all-tournament team in 1998.
As a senior in 1998, she posted a .333 batting average with 43 hits in 129 at bats, 33 RBI, 24 walks, 21 runs scored, eight doubles, a career-high eight home runs and a .597 slugging percentage. On the year she played in 49 games. She was tabbed a first-team All-Mid-Con Eastern Division pick as a third baseman.
Notareschi had three-hit efforts against Eastern Kentucky, CCSU and Ohio State. She drove in a career-high five RBI against Campbell and also had three RBI against Wright State and Central Connecticut State. She represented YSU on the Mid-Con's All-Tournament team.
In 1997, she had a career-best batting average of .375. That mark was the highest by any player in the program in 14 years. In 128 at bats, she had a career-high 49 hits for the year. She finished with a career-high 10 doubles, 28 RBI, 23 runs scored, 14 walks, four homers and a .594 slugging percentage in 47 games. Notareschi had three hits against Dayton and CCSU. She belted home runs against Florida State, Canisius, Kent State and Army.
During her sophomore year, she had 30 hits, 21 runs scored, 16 RBI, six doubles and hit two home runs. Notareschi homered against Troy and Hartford.
As a freshman, she posted a .356 batting average with 48 hits, 26 RBI, 19 runs scored, five doubles, four home runs and a .511 slugging percentage in 45 games. For her efforts she was named first-team All-Mid-Continent Conference Eastern Division.
A graduate of Poland High School, Notareschi was a four-time first-team all-conference selection and a second-team all-state pick.
She earned her degree from YSU in Education and went on to receive Masters Degrees from Marygrove College and Grand Canyon University.
She currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she is the dean of students at Hyde Park Middle School in the Clark County School District.
