Jessica Ewald is in her third season as a member of theYoungstown State swimming and diving coaching staff.
Ewald works closely with the entire group of swimmers andmonitors splits during all events. In the two full years since shehas been a member of the staff, YSU has set eight school records inindividual swimming events while establishing new marks in all fiverelays. She is a also responsible for the community outreach of theprogram and assists Head Coach Matt Anderson in recruiting.
Ewald, who previously coached at the Total Performance Swim Campand the Seneca Aquatic Klub, was three-time NCAA Division IIInational qualifier at Ohio Northern University as a collegian.
She finished her Polar Bear career as a 12-time Ohio AthleticConference champion and a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree. Fourof those titles came her senior year when she led Ohio Northern toits first ever OAC title.
Ewald also became the first ONU swimmer to win three straightconference titles in any event by winning the 100 and 200-yardbreaststroke her final three years. She was named team MVP and teamcaptain her final two years.
In addition to her coaching experience, Ewald completed afacility internship at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatoriumprior to joining the YSU program.
Ewald was also active outside of the water at ONU. She served asthe treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as asenior, and she was involved in the Health Performance and SportsSciences Club, the Society of Success and Leadership and theEmerging Leaders Program.
She graduated in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts & Sciencein Sports Management and Coaching Certification.
