Emanuel Stephens is in his second year as an assistant coach for the YSU soccer program.
Stephens spent three seasons as the men's soccer head coach at Talladega College before joining Fabio Boateng's staff in March of 2016.
Stephens joined Talladega after a successful tenure as the head men's soccer coach at nearby Concordia where he guided the Hornets to the 2012 USCAA National Tournament for the first time since 2009. The Hornets finished third in the USCAA during the regular season, including a seven-match unbeaten streak. The Hornets compiled an 11-4 overall record; the 11 wins marked the most wins in program history since the 2009 campaign. Stephens turned in the most successful season by a first-year head coach in program history.
In Stephens' first year at CCA, five Hornets earned All-America honors for their play during the season. Senior forward Troy Bacchus took home Second-Team USCAA All-American honors while freshmen defender Shenaldo Parkes, freshmen Luis Carlos and freshmen Leighton Richards earned Honorable Mention All-American honors. Freshman forward Vincent Mitchell was named to the USCAA All-American team and was named to the USCAA All-Tournament team. Concordia College Alabama had three players named USCAA Academic All-Americans, senior Kenjay Simmonds, junior John Jibril and sophomore Mthokozisi Mlotshwa.
Prior to joining CCA, Stephens was the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Judson College in Marion, Ala., where he coached for two seasons. While at Judson College, Stephens helped lead the Eagles to an overall record 16-12-2 in two seasons. In 2011. Judson College broke numerous records for goals scored (50), most wins in the season (10), and most consecutive wins in the season (seven).
Stephens spent the 2009 season as the assistant Men's and Women's Soccer coach at the University of Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Walker School (Ga.) also enjoyed success with Stephens on the coaching staff, compiling a 17-3-0 record for the boy's team and 34-6-2 record for the girl's team. In 2009, the Wolverines (boy's team) lost in the Elite 8 of the State Playoffs. During 2008 season the Lady Wolverines finished the season with a 17-3-2 record en route to a State Championship. In 2009, the Lady Wolverines won their second State Championship with a record of 17-3-0.
A native of Atlanta, he is a 2008 graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Ga., where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation.
