Avery Fenchel is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Youngstown State women’s soccer team.
Fenchel joined the Penguins after a stellar career at Ball State from 2020-24. She finished her career as Ball State’s all-time leading goal scorer with 30, and she was a two-time All-Mid-American Conference selection.
Fenchel, who helped the Cardinals to 33 victories during her time, appeared in 74 games during her career with the Cardinals and made 51 starts. She also tallied four assists and posted 64 career points.
During her graduate campaign in 2024, Fenchel posted six goals and tallied three assists for 15 total points.
Fenchel was named First Team All-MAC and Academic All-MAC Team, and she was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team during her senior season in 2023.
She also was the MAC Medal of Excellence recipient. That year, Fenchel appeared and started in 17 matches and scored 11 goals, including 3 against Mercyhurst. She also scored three match-winning goals, which ranked second in the conference.
Fenchel led the Cardinals with 11 goals and 22 points as a junior in 2022 and was named All-MAC First Team and Academic All-MAC.
She earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2021 after appearing in 13 matches and tallying four points on two goals.
Fenchel earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science: pre-physical therapy from Ball State, and she earned certificate of business administration from BSU.
