Kylie Gamelier recently completed her third year as an assistantswimming coach for the Penguins.
Gamelier works closely with the entire group of swimmers andmonitors splits during all events. She also assists in setting upon-campus recruiting visits.
In 2012-13, Ashley Dow won the 100 and 200-yard backstrokeevents at the Horizon League Championships in meet record time. Sheis the first swimmer in school history to win two events at theconference meet in school history. Additionally, Samantha Robertswas third in the 200-yard breaststroke and fifth in the 100 breast.YSU had 10 top-eight finishes at the league meet, its mostever.
In 2011-12, Dow became the first Penguin swimmer to earn aHorizon League Championship since 2004. Dow won the 100-yardbackstroke with a school and conference record time of 54.83seconds, an NCAA B cut qualifying mark. Dow was second in the200-yard back.
For the meet, YSU scored a school record 364 points, its most ofany of its 12 trips to the Horizon League Championships. At theleague meet, the Penguins set four school individual swimmingrecords and posted school-best times in three of the relayevents.
During her first year with the program, YSU set four schoolrecords in individual swimming events while establishing new marksin four of the five relays. She is also responsible for thecommunity outreach of the program and assists Head Coach MattAnderson in recruiting.
Prior to joining the YSU staff, she was the assistant swim coachand recruiting coordinator for Davidson College in Davidson,N.C. She also taught a Physical Education class, FitnessSwimming, where the students learned how to create dryland and swimworkouts and was the Head Coach of Teen Fit.
Gamelier, who is a native of Cranberry, Pa., received herBachelor of Science degree in Clinical Exercise Science from theUniversity of Toledo in 2009.
While attending Toledo, she served as Performance Intern duringspring 2009. Her duties included assisting the athletes withstrength training, correcting form, editing video clips of theirbiomechanics, and testing the athletes before and after theirworkouts using the computer software, Dartfish.
In the summer of 2008, she served as a strength and conditioningintern at the University of Pittsburgh. Her job consisted oflearning Olympic lifts and styles of strength training, correctingform, and developed different types of training circuits.
A four-year letterwinner, she was the first swimmer in thehistory of the school to qualify for the Division I NCAA tournamentand the Olympic Trials. She was awarded Most Valuable playerof her 2008-09 season and The Toledo Athletic Department's SeniorFemale Athlete of the Year.
She also set individual records in the 100 yard breaststroke,200 yard breaststroke, and 100 meter breaststroke and relay recordsin the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay.
