Brett Pitzulo

Brett Pitzulo, a Youngstown-area native, will be in his second season as the Director of Hitting Development for the Youngstown State baseball program in 2023-24.

Pitzulo previously served as the Director of Player Development for the Penguins in 2021-22.

“Brett has been a great asset to our program, and he did an excellent job in his development role in 2022,” said YSU head coach Dan Bertolini. “With his wealth of hitting knowledge and experience working with many great offensive players, it will be a natural transition for him to move into our Director of Hitting Development position in 2023.”

Pitzulo has an extensive coaching background that includes serving as the hitting coach at Boardman High School and Head Coach for the Astro Falcons summer ball program before becoming an instructor and coach with the Ohio Glaciers in 2012. With the Glaciers, Pitzulo coached numerous college baseball players throughout his tenure. He coached the Glaciers’ national teams for four years before becoming the Director of Operations.

A native of Poland, Ohio, Pitzulo began his collegiate baseball career at Otterbein University before finishing at Mercyhurst University. He lives in Poland and has two sons, Grady and Nico.
