The Youngstown State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is pleased to announce the creation of the Kevin and Yocelin Stefko Scholarship to enhance the YSU Athletics Scholarship Endowment Fund.
The scholarship will be awarded for the first time starting this upcoming academic year to a baseball student-athlete. Preference will be given to a student-athlete majoring in business and comes from the Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana County area.
This scholarship was established by Kevin Stefko, a 1990 BSBA graduate of Youngstown State University and his wife, Yocelin, who is a native of Moca in the Dominican Republic. Stefko, being a long-time resident and businessman in the Mahoing Valley, created this endowment to provide a deserving member of the baseball team the opportunity to obtain a quality education from YSU.
He is a 1985 graduate of Ursuline High School and is co-owner of SenSource, Inc. He and his wife live in Canfield with their two children, Sonya and Christian.
“Our family is elated to be able to provide this endowment to assist a member of the baseball team at YSU,” the Stefko’s said. “The time was right to pay it forward to our hometown university and assist a student-athlete in pursing his dreams of playing college baseball and receiving a college education.”
Paul McFadden, President of the YSU Foundation, said the Stefko family is very thoughtful to endow a scholarship to a YSU student-athlete.
“Kevin and Yocelin are two outstanding people and we are excited to have them endow a scholarship,” McFadden said. “They both know the importance of a college education and how significant that is to enhance a student-athletes future.”
