The Youngstown State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is pleased to announce the John, Eva (Jankovich), David and Donna Lynn Reves Scholarship to enhance the YSU Athletics Scholarship Endowment Fund.
This scholarship was established recently by Donna Lynn Reves in memory of her parents, John and Eva Reves, and her brother, David Reves. John and Eva always emphasized the importance of education and were so proud of Donna Lynn and David when they graduated from Youngstown State.
Donna Lynn graduated from YSU in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and in 1979 with a master’s degree in Elementary Education – Remedial Reading. She taught second grade in the Struthers City School system for 37 years. David graduated from YSU in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He received his master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University along with his Professional Engineering License. He worked for the American Water Company in New Jersey for 31 years as a civil engineer and manager.
John always enjoyed the game of golf and was eager to play in golf leagues after his retirement from Aeroquip Corporation Republic Rubber Division where he worked for 44 years. Eva was a homemaker who, along with John, took great pride in their children and enjoyed being with their family and friends. David took the game of golf very seriously and was able to enjoy and experience golfing at many courses around the country.
Donna Lynn Reves’ hope is that those student-athletes who receive this scholarship will have the same great opportunities in their field of study and their future endeavors.
“I started this scholarship to honor my late father and mother and my brother, David.” Donna Lynn Reves said. “Education was very important in our home. I hope that this scholarship helps those to achieve their goals.”
The annual scholarship endowment will be awarded to a student-athlete on the YSU men’s golf team. Preference will be given to a student-athlete majoring in Civil Engineering or Elementary Education.
Paul McFadden, President of the YSU Foundation, said the Reves’s Family has always appreciated their Youngstown State education and how it prepared them to become successful.
“John and Eva loved their family and both of their children had fulfilling careers after graduating from YSU,” McFadden said. “David had a passion for golf and knew all about the hard work and patience it took to become successful. We are honored to have the family endow a scholarship that will benefit a men’s golfer here at YSU.”
