Gary and Ginny Neville Scholarship to Benefit YSU Student-Athletes

The Youngstown State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is pleased to announce the Gary and Ginny Neville Scholarship to enhance the YSU Athletics Scholarship Endowment Fund.

This endowment was established in the fall of 2018 by Gary and Ginny Neville in appreciation of the positive impact YSU has had on their lives.

Gary Neville’s finance degree from the Williamson College of Business Administration prepared him for a successful 40-year career managing the diversified business interests of a privately-held company.

Ginny Neville’s BSAS degree along with the leadership experience she gained as a four-year Penguins cheerleader provided a solid foundation for her business career. She has been honored to serve on the Penguin Club Board of Directors since 2000.

Gary and Ginny feel a tremendous sense of pride in YSU’s continual improvements along with the joy of watching YSU student-athletes compete.

The scholarship will alternate annually between a student-athlete on the YSU Football team and the track and field program. Preference will be given to an athlete enrolled in the Williamson College of Business who is a native of Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana County.

“As alumni of YSU, the gift was given in appreciation for all that YSU has meant to our careers,” the Neville’s said. “We feel pride in our alma mater’s tremendous growth and improvements over the years and want to provide aid for future student-athletes. We enjoy following Penguin sports and recognize the benefit of athletics in a student’s development.”

Paul McFadden, President of the YSU Foundation, said the Neville’s have always been big supporters of YSU.

“Every time I go to a YSU sporting event, I see Gary and Ginny in the stands proudly wearing their YSU red and white,” McFadden said. “They are hard-working, dedicated people who have always thought highly of this university. It’s a great honor to have them endow a scholarship.”

Once determined, a plaque with a photo of the recipient will be displayed in the Stambaugh Stadium Scholarship Loge Complex.
