The Youngstown State University Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics is pleased that Farmers National Bank, a dedicated
contributor to the department and university, has created a
scholarship endowment to enhance the YSU Athletics Scholarship
Endowment Fund. The endowment will be awarded for the first time
beginning with the 2014-15 academic year.
The scholarship endowment recipient will be a minority
student-athlete who displays dedication, commitment and pride in
competition. The student-athlete, who will be good academic
standing, must be committed to the community and give back through
community service.
With 19 banking locations and two trust
offices throughout Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana, Stark and
Cuyahoga counties, Farmers also has a full array of financial
services to include Farmers National Investments, Farmers Trust
Company, Farmers National Insurance, Farmers Private Client
Services and NAI, Inc.
Farmers National Bank believes in giving back
to the communities in which we live and work. It’s a
tradition we’ve followed since 1887. As a community bank, we
are community oriented and embed ourselves in our
neighborhoods.
Farmers National Bank creates this
scholarship in hope that a deserving individual will benefit from
the extraordinary YSU experience and continue the Farmer’s
tradition of service to our communities.
Paul McFadden, President of the YSU Foundation, said the immense
support Farmers National Bank has provided for the growth of the
university is important.
“Farmers National Bank has always been a part of our
strong, tight-knit community,” McFadden said. “They
have been a very key contributor to Youngstown State and we are
excited to have them endow a scholarship. We look forward to
continuing this special relationship in the future."
The YSU soccer and track and field complex located across the
street from Stambaugh Stadium is named Farmers National Bank Field.
Farmers National Bank contributed $500,000 to the project in
December 2012.
