Registration

How to Register for Courses Advising step-by-step checklist (PDF) Athletic Academic Advising Registration Policy

Waitlist for a Course - Waitlisting is a feature in the PenguinPortal registration system that allows a student to "wait in line" for courses that have reached capacity/closed. Once you have waitlisted a course, we automatically send you an email to your YSU account with a notification that a seat has opened and you can register for the waitlisted course.

Withdraw From a Course - Student-athletes must speak with their athletic advisor before withdrawing from a course! To withdraw from a single course, it is necessary to access the registration functions online via the Penguin Portal - Registration. It is the student's responsibility to confirm that the withdrawal was correctly processed, and the course(s) is (are) deleted. Nonattendance of class, or notification to the instructor or department does not constitute official withdrawal.

YSU Course Catalog - The course catalog has all course descriptions offered at YSU. Please see this when exploring majors, curriculum and/or courses.

Override request forms

When registering for courses that require a prerequisite course and/or specific placement, you may receive an error when trying to enroll in the course.  When this happens, you will need to complete the “override” form from the department of the course you are trying to enroll in.

Student-Athlete University Policies

Academic Standing Policies - Students are required to maintain a minimum grade point average to remain in good academic standing. The minimum GPA for all undergraduate students is 2.0. If a student falls below the minimum, he or she will be placed on academic warning. If the student fails to bring the GPA up the next semester, he or she will be placed on academic probation. Student-athletes are not permitted to participate in sports if they are placed on academic probation.
