2024 (Fifth Year): Named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators… Voted to serve on YSU's leadership team… Appeared in all 110 sets and was one of three players to start all 30 matches… Led the Penguins with 964 assists, which was the highest single-season total of her career, while adding 46 kills, 23 aces, 367 digs and 46 blocks… The 964 assists were the 17th-most by a Penguin in a single season, and it was the fourth-highest total in the 25-point rally scoring era… Averaged 8.76 assists, 0.42 kills, 0.21 aces, 3.34 digs and 0.42 blocks per set… Her averages against league opponents were 8.44 assists and 3.44 digs per set… Ranked fifth in the Horizon League in assists per set, and she was 13th in digs per set… Led all conference setters in digs per set… Recorded her 2,000th career assist on Oct. 1 at Robert Morris, and she posted her 2,000th assist as a Penguin on Nov. 8 at Cleveland State… Recorded 19 double-doubles during the season… Had at least 20 digs three times, including a season-best 24 in a five-set win over LIU (9/1)… She also had a season-best 54 assists against the Sharks (9/1)… Registered five kills twice, and she had four blocks three times… Her highest single-match total for aces came at UConn (8/31)… Had 39 assists in a three-set Senior Day victory over Oakland in which the Penguins had their highest attack percentage ever in a Horizon League match at .362… Her 39 assists were the most by a YSU setter in a three-setter since Alexia Byrnes had 40 in a contest in 2019.
2023 (Senior): Was one of two players to appear in all 114 sets during the season… Made three starts at setter in YSU’s 6-2 offense… Ranked second on the team with 515 assists and 4.52 assists per set… Added 14 kills, 24 aces and 197 digs for averages of 0.12 kills, 0.21 aces and 1.73 digs per set… Averaged 4.43 assists and 1.57 digs against conference opponents… Recorded her 1,500th career assist in the home match against Purdue Fort Wayne on Nov. 4… Recorded her 1,000th assist as a Penguin against Wright State on Oct. 17… Posted at least 10 assists in 28 of her 29 matches… Recorded five double-doubles, including four times in the first five matches of the season… Had 12 digs twice - vs. Saint Francis U (8/26) and versus Memphis (9/1)… Her season high in assists came when she recorded 30 at Northern Kentucky (10/24)… Registered three aces three times, including twice in the final five matches of the season.
2022 (Junior): Was the only player to appear in all 118 sets during the season as a setter in YSU’s 6-2 offense… Led the team with 622 assists and 5.27 assists per set in her first year with the program… Also had 23 aces and 242 digs for averages of 0.19 aces and 2.05 digs per set… Averaged 5.58 assists and 1.89 digs per set in conference matches… Recorded a season-high 36 assists in a five-set win at IUPUI (10/29)… Also reached the 30-assist mark two other times in back-to-back rod matches at Northern Kentucky (10/15) and Oakland (10/18)… Registered a career-best 24 digs to go along with 27 assists against Cleveland State (9/20)… That was one of her seven double-doubles during the year… Recorded the 1,000th assist of her career, which includes 380 from her time at Winthrop, in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Volleyball Championship against Green Bay.
Winthrop: Played in 68 sets over 25 matches in two seasons for the Eagles… As a freshman in the 2020-21 season, ranked among the top 10 in the Big South Conference in both assists (5.39) and aces (0.34) per set… In the fall of 2021, she improved to 5.71 assists per set, and she also averaged 2.04 digs per set.
High School: At University High School, Schaefbauer was selected for the USA Girls’ Holiday Training Program and the USA Girls’ National Continental Team Program. She was named Central State Eight All-Conference three times, and she was named the Pantagraph Newspaper Area Player of the Year in 2019. She helped lead her team to three conference championships, two section titles and two top-four finishes at the IHSA State Volleyball Class 3A Championship. She was also a first-team all-state honoree as a doubles player in tennis.
Personal: Parents are Skipp and Nicole… Has a sister (McKenna)… Comes from an athletic family… Her mother played volleyball at Notre Dame, and her father played basketball at East Carolina and Illinois State… Additionally, her sister played tennis at Illinois… Earned her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences in the spring of 2023… Was a 2022-23 recipient of the Penguin Club/Joseph F. Malmisur Athletic Scholarship endowment… Was the 2023-24 recipient of the President Howard W. Jones Scholarship, the Jack and Mary Kay McFadden Scholarship, and the McKenna Family Scholarship… Attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in May 2024… Is a 2024-25 recipient of the Penguin Club - Joseph F. Malmisur Athletic Scholarship.
