2019 (R-Senior) | Match-By-Match Stats: Voted Academic All-League for the second consecutive season... Became one of just six players in program history to be a two-time academic all-conference honoree... Played in all 101 sets and was the only Penguin to start all 29 matches... Led the team with 262 kills and ranked second with 25 aces and 323 digs... Averaged 2.59 kills per set, 0.25 aces per set and 3.20 digs per set... Became just the fourth player in school history to average at least 2.5 kills and 3.0 digs in two different seasons... Averaged 2.42 kills and 3.13 digs per set in conference play... Set the school record for most attempts in a five-set match with 68 versus Northern Kentucky in the season finale (11/16), breaking Amy Hermann's old record of 66 that had stood since 1998... Hughes had the most attempts regardless of match length since rally scoring began in 2001... Earned all-tournament team honors at the Penguin Classic, the Towson Invitational and the YSU Red & White Invitational... Posted the best attack percentage of her career at .141... 2018 (R-Junior) | Match-By-Match Stats: Voted to the Horizon League All-Academic Team... Played in 101 sets over 28 matches, 27 of which she started... Led the team with 2.70 kills and 3.87 digs per set, becoming the first Penguin to lead the team in both kills and digs per set since Colleen Royer in 2003... Was the only player in the Horizon League to lead her team in both kills and digs per set... Was one of two players in the conference to rank in the top 10 in both categories... Totaled 273 kills, 391 digs, 37 assists, 12 aces and 34 blocks for averages of 2.70 kills, 3.87 digs, 0.37 assists, 0.12 aces and 0.34 blocks... Averaged 2.45 kills and 3.78 digs per set against conference opponents... Became the first Penguin in 11 years to post a 20-20 match when she had 20 kills and 21 digs in a four-set match at Kent State on Aug. 28... It was just the 16th 20-20 match in program history... Posted 12 double-doubles, which ranked second on the squad... Selected to the all-tournament team at the Bucknell Invitational and the Jefferson Cup (hosted by Virginia)... 2016 (R-Freshman) | Match-By-Match Stats: Played in 89 sets over 24 matches, 21 of which she started... Ranked fourth on the team with 104 kills, and her 203 digs ranked fifth... Averaged 1.17 kills and 2.28 digs per set overall and 0.86 kills and 1.97 digs in league play... Ranked eighth in the Horizon League with 0.28 aces per set... Registered a season-high 10 kills and hit .308 in a four-set win at UNC Greensboro (9/3)... Had nine kills three times... Registered at least 10 digs six times... Had 30 digs, the most by any Penguin during the season and the most ever by a YSU in a four-set rally-scoring match, against UNC Greensboro... Posted three blocks twice.
2015: Redshirted.
High School: Earned four letters and was a team captain one year... Finished her Blue Devils career with 1,170 career kills and 1,037 career digs... Was an Honorable Mention All-Ohio selection as a senior when she posted 447 kills and 276 digs... Recognized as first-team all-conference and first-team all-district in each of her final two seasons... Western Reserve won the ITCL and was the district runner-up in both 2013 and 2014... Was a Second-Team All-Ohio pitcher in softball and led the Blue Devils to a district title as a senior... She struck out 19 batters in the seven-inning win in the sectional final... Also helped the Blue Devils to back-to-back district titles in basketball... Graduated as class valedictorian and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Parents are Duane and Kristine... Has two sisters (Alexis and Alyvia)... Her mother also attended YSU... Major is integrated math education... Earned her bachelor's degree in accounting in May 2019... Recipient of the 2019-20 Boak and Sons Scholarship and the Dover Club Scholarship.
