YSU Set For HL Individual Championships in Cleveland

The Youngstown State men's tennis team will compete at the three-day Horizon League Individual Championships held in Cleveland, Ohio, at CSU's Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion this Friday through Sunday.
The Penguins are one of seven Horizon League members competing in the event. The other six are Cleveland State, Belmont, Northern Illinois, IU Indy, Oral Roberts and Southern Indiana. YSU, CSU, IUI and NIU are from the North Division while ORU, Belmont and USI are from the South Division.
Oral Roberts joined the Horizon League over the summer as an affiliate member.
Action on Friday starts at 9 a.m., matches on Saturday are set for 10 a.m. and Sunday's singles final and doubles semis and finals are set to begin at 11 a.m.
The event will feature a 32-player Singles Draw and a 16-Team Doubles Draw, with the winner from both brackets earning an entry into the ITA Conference Masters Championship, which will be hosted Nov. 5-8 in Rome, Ga.
Five Penguins are set to play in singles – Oscar Gippet, Dovas Dersonas, Rafael Le Fur, Phopthum Sriwong and Lenn Stueckrath. In doubles, Gippet and Mihai Haita, Le Fur and Desonas and Sriwong and Stueckrath will be action.
At the season-opening YSU Invitational, Gippet was a perfect 4-0 to win the main draw singles title while Sriwong posted a 4-0 mark at B Singles. Dersonas went 2-1, which his lone loss coming to Gippet.
Belmont hosted the 2025 event.
