The fourth-seeded Youngstown State baseball team will play the fifth-seeded Oakland Golden Grizzlies an opening round elimination game in the 2026 Horizon League Baseball Championship on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Nischwitz Stadium in Dayton, Ohio.
The Penguins finished the 2026 regular season with a 15-38 overall record and a 12-12 mark in Horizon League play. The Golden Grizzlies finished the regular season with an 11-40 overall record and a 5-19 mark in league action. YSU has won two straight HL series and nine of its last 12 league contests overall heading into tournament play.
Wright State won the 2026 Horizon League regular season title with a league record of 17-7 to claim the No. 1 seed and serve as the host for the league tournament for the eighth straight season. Milwaukee finished at 14-10 in league play to claim the No. 2 seed while Northern Kentucky went 12-12 and held the tiebreaker over YSU to serve as the No. 3 seed.
The winner of Wednesday's opening elimination game between YSU and Oakland will advance into the double elimination portion of the tournament to face top-seeded Wright State on Thursday at 3 p.m. Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky will face off in Thursday's first game at 11 a.m.
