YSU Baseball Home Games Next Week Moved to Alternate Sites

Due to construction delays at 717 Credit Union Field at Eastwood in Niles, the Youngstown State baseball team's four scheduled home games during the coming week will be played at alternate locations.

YSU is currently scheduled to face Central Michigan in a non-conference contest at ForeFront Field in Avon, Ohio, on Wednesday at noon before opening Horizon League play with a three-game series against Oakland beginning on Friday at Michelle Krill Memorial Field at Pullman Park in Butler, Pa. After beginning the series on Friday at noon, the Penguins and Golden Grizzlies will proceed to play on Saturday at 3 p.m. before closing the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. More details regarding tickets and admission for fans will be provided in the coming days.

ForeFront Field has served as the home of the Lake Erie Crushers, a member of the Frontier League, since 2009. The stadium, which boasts a seating capacity of 5,000, opened on June 2, 2009. The venue is used year-round for concerts, music festivals, carnivals, youth tournaments, corporate outings and more. ForeFront Field also serves as the baseball home for Avon High School and Lorain County Community College. The facility has previously hosted the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Baseball Championship and Cleveland Guardians Summer Youth Camps as well as serving as a host site for the OHSAA Baseball Regional Tournament.

Pullman Park, which was originally built in 1934, is one of the largest fields in the state of Pennsylvania, and one of the last remaining remnants of the Pennsylvania State Associations and the Middle-Atlantic League. The facility has served as the home field for farm teams for the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates.

In 2008, the new Pullman Park opened and became available for baseball once again. The 75th anniversary of Pullman Park was celebrated with a renovation of the entire park. In 2019, Michelle Krill Memorial Field at Pullman Park was named in memory of Michelle Krill following her battle with cancer. The historic facility is now a longstanding staple of Butler culture. Michelle Krill Memorial Field at Pullman Park most recently served as the home of the Butler BlueSox, a collegiate summer baseball team based in Butler. The park is utilized regularly by several surrounding high school baseball teams as well as local colleges and universities including Clarion University and Penn State Greater Allegheny.

ForeFront Field is located at 2009 Baseball Blvd, Avon, OH 44011

Michelle Krill Memorial Field at Pullman Park is located at 100 Pullman Park Pl, Butler, PA 16001
