Indianapolis, Ind. – Youngstown State sophomore Isabella O'Brien (McDonald, Ohio) was named the Under Armour Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
This is O'Brien's first Horizon League weekly award, and the second pitcher-of-the-week honor this season for the Penguins. Kennedy Kimball won the award on March 2.
O'Brien helped the Penguins to a 5-2 record last week and an 8-4 mark over the last 12 contests.
O'Brien went 2-0 last week with a shutout and 13 strikeouts in 17.1 innings pitched. She fired a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts in an 11-0 win over Hampton on March 3.
She also earned the win with a complete game outing in a 6-4 victory over Longwood on March 5. She struck out three against the Lancers.
Over her last six appearances, O'Brien owns a record of 3-0 with three complete games and a shutout. She has recorded 18 strikeouts in 25.1 innings pitched.
Youngstown State faces Pittsburgh in a single game, Tuesday, March 17. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Vartabedian Field in Pittsburgh, Pa.
