Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State's Sarah Baker is the Under Armour Horizon League Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week for the final week of the regular season. The conference office announced its winners on Sunday.
Baker, a redshirt freshman from Florence, Ky., also won the award in the first week of the season on Nov. 10.
Baker scored 18 points and broke Youngstown State's single-season record for points by a freshman last week as YSU beat Detroit Mercy in the regular-season finale on Wednesday. Baker finished 9-for-16 from the field to increase her season total to 354 points, surpassing Caroline McCombs' previous record of 346 that had stood since 1994-95. Baker added three assists, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal against the Titans.
Youngstown State will host a First Round game in the 2026 Barbasol Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship on Wednesday inside Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center. The game against Wright State will tip at 7 p.m.
