Youngstown State freshman infielder Misael Uriepero was selected as D1Baseball.com's Preseason Horizon League Freshman of the Year as one of three Penguins to earn preseason recognition in the website's 2026 Horizon League Preview.
Uriepero was selected as D1Baseball.com's Preseason Horizon League Freshman of the Year as the No. 1 ranked player on the website's list of Impact Freshmen in the conference ahead of the 2026 season. The Caracas, Venezuela, native was also ranked as the website's No. 3 MLB Draft prospect in the Horizon League for 2027.
Freshman infielder Alex Jang was ranked No. 3 on D1Baseball's list of Impact Freshmen in the Horizon League while junior right-hander Mikey Rodriques ranked as the website's No. 3 MLB Draft prospect in the Horizon League for 2026.
D1Baseball.com picked Youngstown State to finish fourth in the Horizon League standings in 2026. Wright State, the defending regular season and tournament champion, was picked as the favorite to win the league title. Milwaukee was selected to finish second behind the Raiders while Northern Kentucky was tabbed to finish third. Oakland was slotted fifth in the website's preseason rankings.
Youngstown State is scheduled to open the 2026 season and begin a three-game series at Auburn on Feb. 13.
