Youngstown State placekicker Andrew Lastovka was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week following his strong performance in YSU's 31-28 come-from-behind win at Towson on Saturday night.

Earlier today, Lastovka was named the Stats Perform National Player of the Week. He is third Penguin to be named National Player and MVFC Player of the Week after four games this year - Dathan Hickey (defense vs. Mercyhurst) and Beau Brungard (offense vs. Robert Morris).

Lastovka made three field goals, including a game-winning 40-yard field goal as time expired at Towson. He kicked a 48-yard field goal to tie the contest with 1:37 remaining to tie the game. Then YSU moved into position at the Towson 24-yard line with three seconds left and he calmly drilled a 40-yarder as time expired.

It was the second time in his career he kicked a game-winning field goal. In the third quarter he also made a 27-yard field goal as well. It is also the second time in his career he has been named the MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week (vs. Illinois State, 2022).

Other MVFC top performers for the week include Southern Illinois QB DJ Williams (Offense), Southern Illinois LB Chris Presto (Defense) and Illinois State DB Shadwel Nkuba II (Newcomer).

The Penguins return to action on Oct. 4 when they play host to South Dakota State at Stambaugh Stadium.
