Penguins Return Home to Host YSU Kickoff on Monday

The Youngstown State women's golf team will continue the early portion of its fall schedule on Monday when it plays host to the YSU Kickoff at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
The Penguins are coming off a fourth-place team finish in the season-opening Tiger Classic hosted by Clemson on Aug. 25. YSU concluded the event with a two-round team total of 578 (+2), which ranks as the second-lowest 36-hole performance in program history. The Guins opened the one-day, 36-hole event with a 289 before carding another 289 in the second and final session.
Neeranuch Prajunpanich picked up right where she left off at the end of her historic sophomore season in 2024-25, sharing medalist honors at the Tiger Classic with a two-round score of 137 (67-70). The junior's career-low and bogey-free, five-under-par 67 in the opening round of the season is tied for the second-lowest individual 18-hole score in school history. In addition, Prajunpanich's two-round 137 ranks as the second-lowest individual 36-hole score in program history.
The tournament field at the YSU Kickoff will feature four other schools including Franciscan University, Grove City College, Thiel and Westminster. In addition, Geneva College will have one player competing as an individual.
The teams will play 18 holes on Monday in the one-day event. Tee times off No. 1 at Mill Creek's North Course are scheduled every 10 minutes from 9:40-11:30 a.m. The course will play 5,868 yards and par is 72. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat through links posted on YSUsports.com.
Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU's five-player lineup will feature Prajunpanich, Maddi Shoults, Valentina Peña Anaya, Sofia Perez Escarcena and Bella Saur. In addition, Maureen Burns, Adena Rugola and Matilyn Zines will be competing as individuals for the Penguins. Burns, a redshirt freshman, will be making her collegiate debut for YSU on Monday.
