Softball Roster Finalized for 2026 Campaign

Youngstown, Ohio – The Youngstown State softball team finalized its roster for the 2026 season with the addition of five transfers, Head Coach Brian Campbell announced.

Joining the Penguins are catcher Gabbie Evans, infielder/catcher Emma Gilkerson, infielder Selah Moyer, pitcher Isabella O'Brien, and infielder Tai Turner.

Evans, a senior from Whiteland, Ind., spent last season at Ball State and belted two home runs. She batted .237 with two home runs and 13 runs batted in during the 2024 season at Western Michigan.

Gilkerson spent the last three seasons at Cleveland State where she helped the Vikings to the 2025 Horizon League Regular-Season Championship and the 2024 Horizon League Championship and an NCAA Regional berth. The Strasburg, Ohio, native was also a two-time All-Horizon League selection. She earned first-team honors in 2025 after batting .339 with 12 home runs, 38 RBIs, and a 1.129 OPS. Over the last two seasons, Gilkerson batted .340 with 18 homers and 58 RBIs.

Moyer, a junior from Tiffin, Ohio, spent the last two seasons at Niagara where she posted a career average of .336 with 16 doubles, nine home runs and 41 RBIs. In 2025, she belted seven homers with 19 RBIs and slashed .323/.606/.398 and owned an OPS of 1.004.

O'Brien, a sophomore from McDonald, Ohio, spent the 2025 season at Tiffin. Last season, she went 11-1 with a 2.51 earned-run average, 100 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .2227 batting average.

Turner, a redshirt junior, spent three seasons at St. Peter's (N.J.) and owns a career batting average of .350 with eight home runs and 73 RBIs. In 2025, Turner was named Second-Team All-MAAC with a .352 batting average with 11 doubles, three home runs and 32 runs batted in. She also posted a .517 slugging percentage and .412 on-base percentage. Turner was also named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2023.
