Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State head women's basketball coach Melissa Jackson and her staff will offer three camp options on YSU's campus this summer for players and teams wishing to improve their skills on the court.
The camps are run by Melissa Jackson Basketball LLC and are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender. Discounts are available for select camps for YSU employees and siblings.
The first camp session this summer will be the annual Individual Half Day Youth Camp for boys and girls entering grades 3-8. It will be held on June 23-25, and it will focus on improving fundamentals and each player's all-around game.
A Team Shootout camp will be offered the following week on June 28-29 with each day being a separate session. Varsity teams are invited to compete against some of the best competition in the region for a cost of $300 per day.
An Elite Camp for players entering grades 9-12 and looking to showcase their skills will be held on Aug. 3. The investment for the Elite Camp is $50.

Camp Sessions
Individual Half Day Youth Camp
- Dates: June 23-25 (9 a.m. - Noon)
- Cost: $100 ($50% for YSU employees, $20 off for second sibling)

Camp Description: The focus of this camp is to improve the all-around game. Participants will work on all fundamentals with ball handling, passing, shooting, defense, and rebounding drills. There will also be individual and team competitions where awards will be given. Campers will be separated into groups based on age and skill level. There will be a maximum of 10 campers per instructor. Prizes and a T-shirt are included.
Team Camp
Camp Description: This Team Shootout is for Varsity teams only and will focus completely on 5-on-5 games versus some of the best competition in the area/region. Each team is guaranteed to play 3 games with OHSAA officials for each game. Game start/end times will be set according to teams' travel distances and needs. The YSU Women's Basketball Coaching staff will be at all games. Lodging for out-of-town teams is not included. However, there are many lodging accommodations near the YSU campus.
Elite Camp
Camp Description: This camp is designed for players entering grades 9-12 who are looking to play at the collegiate level and want to showcase their skills. The camp will cover all aspects of the game but focus on drills, station work, competitions and scrimmaging.
