
Penguins Back in Action Monday at The Jewell Hosted by NKU

The Youngstown State men's golf team will be back in action on Monday when it begins play The Jewell hosted by Northern Kentucky at Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio.
The Penguins are coming off a 10th-place team finish in the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday at Highland Golf & Country Club in Indianapolis. Redshirt freshman Nolan Shilling was YSU's top individual finisher as he tied for 16th with a career-best three-round score of 212 (68-68-76). The Murrysville, Pa., native matched his career-low round twice on Monday with pair of two-under-par 68's.
The tournament field at The Jewell will feature players from 13 other schools including Bellarmine, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IU Indianapolis, Mercyhurst, Miami Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Robert Morris, Toledo, Wright State and Xavier.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday in the two-day, 54-hole event. Monday's opening round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 for Tuesday's third and final round will run from 8:30-10:30 a.m. The course will play approximately 6,486 yards and par is 71. Live scoring will be available via Scoreboard Live through links posted on YSUsports.com.
Head Coach Tony Joy has announced that YSU's five-player lineup will feature Shilling, Ryan Sam, Jacob Sylak, Jake Ryan and Jordan Kish. In addition, Rocco Turner will be competing as an individual for the Penguins.
Kish and Sam have competed in all nine of the events YSU has played this season while Ryan and Shilling have each participated in eight tournaments. Sylak has competed in seven events on the season while Turner has seen action in three tournaments.
