Guins to Honor Seniors Before Key Match Against Oakland

The Youngstown State women's tennis team will honor seniors Julia Marko, Lili Minich and Ghada Dirninger before playing a key Horizon League contest against Oakland on Friday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
Marko and Minich are concluding four-year careers while Dirninger joined the program this past fall.
The Penguins enter the match with an 11-7 overall mark and 4-1 ledger in HL play. The Golden Grizzlies 7-8 and 4-0. YSU, Oakland and Cleveland State are all vying for the top two spots in the league standings which get a bye to the semifinals of the conference championship.
Dirninger transferred to YSU after spending three seasons at Division II Southwest Baptist in Missouri. She picked up 32 singles victories prior to coming to YSU. This season she has a career best 14 singles wins and is 9-7 this spring.
Marko and Minich have been part of two regular season and two postseason Horizon League titles. In 2023, YSU won both the regular season and conference tournament. In 2022, YSU won the postseason and last year, the Guins shared the regular season title.
In 2022, Minich won the clinching match in the HL championship match vs. Milwaukee. In 2023, Marko claimed two singles wins as the Guins won the postseason crown.
For her career, Marko has won 80 singles matches which rank second in school history. She has also been part of 58 doubles wins. She has a career-high 23 singles wins this season. In her career, she has won at least 16 singles matches every year.
For her career, Minich has won 55 singles contests, highlighted by a career-best 18 wins this year. She owns 54 doubles wins as well.
