Women’s Golf Continues Spring Slate Monday at The Julie Hosted by NKU

The Youngstown State women's golf team will continue its spring schedule on Monday when it begins play in The Julie hosted by Northern Kentucky at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.
The Penguins are coming off a third-place team finish in the Howard University Invitational at Hawkstone Country Club in Gainesville, Fla., on March 3-4. Individually, the Guins had three of the top 11 finishers in the event. Finishing sixth was Neeranuch Prajunpanich who finished with a three-round score of 224 (76-73-75). Placing ninth was Valentina Peña Anaya who carded a 227 (73-80-74) while Sofia Perez Escarcena was 11th with a 229 (74-78-77).
For her efforts at the Howard University Invitational, Prajunpanich was named Horizon League Women's Golfer of the Week for the second time this season on March 6. The Samut Prakan, Thailand, native finished tied for sixth in the 57-player field to collect her fourth top 10 finish of the season. The sophomore has now finished in the top 25 on the individual leaderboard in six of the seven events YSU has played during the 2024-25 season. She leads the Penguins with a 73.8 strokes-per-round average while carding a low round of 69.
The tournament field at The Julie will feature 12 other schools including Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, Glenville State, Green Bay, IU Indianapolis, Lindenwood, Northern Kentucky, Purdue Fort Wayne, Saint Francis, Southern Indiana and Valparaiso.
The teams will play 18 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday in the two-day, 36-hole event. Tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. each day. The course will play approximately 5,919 yards and par is 71. Live scoring will be available via Scoreboard Live through links posted on YSUsports.com and the program's social media channels.
Head Coach Nate Mikos has announced that YSU's five-player lineup will feature Peña Anaya, Perez Escarcena, Lizzie Saur, Maddi Shoults and Prajunpanich. In addition, Bella Saur, Sophia Rivera and Taylor Morrone will be competing as individuals for the Penguins.
Peña Anaya, Perez Escarcena, Prajunpanich and Lizzie Saur have competed in all seven events YSU has played this season while Shoults has participated in six tournaments. Bella Saur has competed in four events and Morrone has played in three tournaments. Rivera will be making her collegiate debut in the opening round on Monday.
