The Youngstown State Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving programs will both be well-represented at this week's CSCAA National Invitational Championships at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training Center in Ocala, Fla. The meet will begin Thursday and conclude on Saturday.
Last Time Out
The Penguins last competed on Feb. 19-Feb. 22 at the Horizon League Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Penguin women tied their best finish in program history, concluding the meet in fourth place. The women amassed 483 total points, which set a new program record.
The Penguin men finished fifth overall, totaling 410 total points.
Miriam Frass became the first YSU female swimmer to win Horizon League Swimmer of the Meet at the conference championships, as she won the 400 IM title for the second year in a row, and also won the 1650 free title as well, becoming the first Penguins female swimmer to win that event.
The women's 800-free relay team of Frass, Olivia Sweetman, Hailey Clark, and Oliwia Kaniak won the first relay title in program history during the Horizon League Championships, finishing with a collective time of 7:20.87.
The Penguin men were highlighted by podium finishes from Dominic Bono, who finished second in the 400 IM, Jacob Gramer, who finished second in the 100 fly and third in the 100 free Gavin Webb, who finished third in the 1650 free, and James Slessor, who finished third in the 100 breaststroke. The 200-medley relay team of Elliot Elmore, Slessor, Gramer, and Darren Laing finished second, becoming the first men's relay team to place on the podium in program history.
