The Youngstown State women's lacrosse team was recognized as part of this week's Mid-American Conference weekly awards, the MAC announced Tuesday.
Sophomore Katie Grottenthaler has been named MAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performances during the Penguins' 3-0 stretch last week on the road.
Grottenthaler recorded at-least a hat trick in each game, totaling 13 goals, including a perfect 8-for-8 on free position shot attempts, as well as corralling 18 draw controls across the three games.
Grottenthaler recorded new career-highs in both goals and draw controls last week, including a new career-high six goals vs. Gardner-Webb last Thursday, as well as controlling a new career-high 11 draws last Monday vs. Wofford.
Katie currently leads the entire Mid-American Conference with 26 goals scored through eight games this season, as well as leading the MAC and ranking third in the country in free position goals with 13.
She has helped lead a Penguins offense that currently leads the country in free position percentage at 62%.
