Three days are now complete at the 2025 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships, and the Youngstown State Penguins Swimming and Diving programs gained some more hardware.
For the second-consecutive year, junior Miriam Frass won the 400 IM Horizon League title. Her time of 4:18.91 set a new program record in the event. Also swimming in the event for the Penguins was Olivia Sweetman, who finished in sixth place with a time of 4:30.96, and Macy Wang, who finished seventh with a time of 4:31.27.
In the men's 100 fly, Jacob Gramer was so close to winning the conference title, finishing second with a time of 47.13, just three-hundredths of a second slower than the first-place time. Lorenz Beck placed fifth, clocking a time of 47.58, and Gavin Redden finished in 12th place, finishing in 48.52.
In the men's 400 IM, Dom Bono collected a second-place finish with a time of 3:51.25, which set a new program record. Gavin Webb placed sixth, clocking a time of 3:54.23, Crispy Barton finished 14th with a time of 4:02.73, and Terin Frodyma placed 15th with a time of 4:03.42.
Oliwia Kaniak led the Penguin women in the 100 breaststroke, finishing runner-up with a time of 1:02.61. She was joined in the event by Eloise Fisher, who placed 12th with a time of 1:05.03, and Chiara Vetter, who finished in 16th place, clocking a time of 1:06.03.
James Slessor had a strong performance for the men in the 100 breaststroke, as he placed third with a time of 54.05. Dom Panozzo was also in the event for the Penguins and finished in 12th with a time of 56.08.
In the men's one-meter dive, Cody Thill placed ninth with a score of 260.10, and Andrew Miller finished in 13th place, scoring 203.20.
Madelyn Mahoney was the top finisher for the Penguins in the women's 200 free, as she finished 11th with a time of 1:53.64. Fellow Penguin Hailey Clark finished 15th with a time of 1:55.55.
Elliot Elmore led the Penguin men in the 100 backstroke, finishing 14th with a time of 50.18. He was joined by Ales Zupanec, who placed 16th, clocking a time of 50.78.
In the men's 200 free, Darren Laing led the Penguins with a 15th place finish as he clocked a time of 1:40.21.
In the women's 100 fly, Allison Ramirez Romero finished eighth with a time of 56:50. Natalia Andres finished 16th with a time of 57.59.
To wrap up the day, the men's 400-medley relay team of Elliot Elmore, James Slessor, Lorenz Beck, and Gavin Redden placed second, swimming a collective time of 3:15.63. On the women's side, the squad of Izzy Rossi, Oliwia Kaniak, Allison Ramirez Romero, and Miriam Frass placed fifth with a time of 3:48.91.

Championship Saturday will begin tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with the swimming prelims. Diving will follow at 12:30 p.m. while the swimming finals will take place at 5:30 p.m., all at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Fans can stream the action live on ESPN+ throughout the sessions.
