Five School Records Broken During Day 2 of the Horizon League Championships

Two days have been completed at the 2025 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships, and day two was another successful one for the Youngstown State Swimming and Diving programs.

Oliwia Kaniak set a new program record in the 200 IM, finishing runner-up with a time of 2:02.46. Macy Wang finished 13th overall with a time of 2:07.65.

Staying with the women's team, Miriam Frass and Olivia Sweetman each reached the podium in the 500 free, as Frass finished runner-up for the third-straight year with a time of 4:50.10, while Sweetman, a freshman, finished in third place with a time of 4:51.75. Hailey Clark finished seventh with a time of 4:56.88, and Morgan Glass, another freshman, finished ninth, clocking a time of 4:58.50. In the preliminary round of the event, Frass swam a time of 4:49.58, which set a new program record.

For the Penguin men, Gavin Webb secured a ninth-place finish in the men's 500 free, finishing in 4:25.14. Lorenz Beck finished in 13th place, clocking a time of 4:33.57, and Ethan Woycehoski placed 15th, finishing with a time of 4:35.38.

In the women's one-meter dive, Emma Schum finished eighth, scoring 222.65, while Hanna Held finished ninth with a score of 258.55, Ellen Linscheid secured an 11th-place finish with a score of 239.50, Dasha Toth scored 218.65, good enough for a 14th-place finish, and Natalie Weissman finished 15th with a score of 215.25.

In the men's 50 free, Jacob Gramer placed 10th with a time of 20.01, which set a new program record.

In the men's 200 IM, Dominic Bono finished in 11th, clocking a time of 1:49.35.

In the 200-free relay both the Penguin men and women set new program-record times. The Penguins women's team of Frass, Kaniak Madelyn Mahoney, and Izzy Rossi placed fifth with a time of 1:34.98. The men's 200-free relay squad of Beck, Gramer, Gavin Redden, and Darren Laing finished fifth with a time of 1:20.15.

Action will resume tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with the swimming prelims. Diving will follow at 1 p.m. while the swimming finals will take place at 5:30 p.m., all at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Fans can stream the action live on ESPN+ throughout the sessions.
