The 2025 Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships kicked off Wednesday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind., and history was made for the Youngstown State Women's Swimming and Diving program.
The 800-free relay team of Miriam Frass, Olivia Sweetman, Hailey Clark, and Oliwia Kaniak won the program's first-ever Horizon League title with a program-record time of 7:20.87, two-tenths of a second faster than second-place IU Indianapolis. Oakland had won the past 10 titles in the event.
The men's 200-medley relay team of Elliot Elmore, James Slessor, Jacob Gramer, and Darren Laing finished runners-up with a school-record time of 1:27.88. This marks the first time that a men's relay team has ever reached the podium at the Horizon League Championships.
In the men's three-meter dive, Cody Thill finished ninth with a score of 296.55, while Andrew Miller finished behind him in 10th, scoring 294.30.
The Penguin men finished fourth in the 800-free relay, as Lorenz Beck, Jacob Gramer, Darren Laing, and Gavin Webb swam a collective time of 6:42.28, which set a new program record.
