The Youngstown State football team had five student-athletes named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference's All-Academic Team, the league announced on Friday.
First-team selections include quarterback Beau Brungard and placekicker Andrew Lastovka while tight end Alex McDonald was named second team and offensive linemen Van Keen and Joe Sferra were selected honorable mention.
Brungard just completed a record-setting campaign for the Penguins and was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Offensive Player of the Year. Lastovka garnered honorable-mention All-MVFC accolades for his 2025 performance.
McDonald had a breakout season starting 10 games in the regular season and caught three touchdown passes. Keen started at center and guard during the campaign while Sferra started at left and right guard throughout the season.
Brungard is a two-time first-team selection while Lastovka was a second-team honoree in 2024.
