
Distance Swimmers Head to Sarasota for the CSCAA Open Water Championships

The final competition of the 2025 calendar year for the Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving programs will highlight the distance swimmers who will travel to sunny Sarasota, Fla., for the 2025 CSCAA Open Water National Championships at Nathan Benderson Park.
Facility Feature
Nathan Benderson Park is a premier 600-acre community and sporting destination in Sarasota, Florida, centered around a 400-acre artificial lake originally created during interstate construction and later transformed into a world-class competition venue. The park has hosted high-profile events including the 2017 World Rowing Championships, NCAA regattas, and numerous USA Swimming Open Water National Championships.
Race Forecast
The 'Guins will be competing in much warmer conditions than they would've in Northeast Ohio this weekend, with Saturday's forecast in Sarasota set for 80 °F
Race Guidelines
Both the men and women will compete in 5K races, which consist of three laps around the Nathan Benderson Park course.
Men's Roster
The men's race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
The competing Penguin men are Poyraz San Askin, Seif Elbatal, David Grant, Quinn Harman, Trent Wakefield, and Ethan Woycehoski.
Women's Roster
The women's race is scheduled to kick off at 10:30 a.m.
The competing Penguin women are Derin Donmez, Nehir Guler, Hannah Murray, Olivia Sweetman.

The distance swimmers will join the rest of their teammates on Jan. 9-10 when YSU is back in action for their final regular season meet, a two-day event inside Beeghly Natatorium against Horizon League foe IU Indianapolis.
