The Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving programs were each represented in this week's edition of the Horizon League weekly awards, the league announced Wednesday.
Penguins' men's swimmer Quinn Cynor took home Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week honors after racking up five wins last weekend vs. Oakland. His most notable victory was in the 200-freestyle, as he won in a program-record time of 1:36.48. Cynor's other victories included the 50-butterfly (21.67), 100-butterfly (48.26), as well as being part of the 200-medley relay (1:28.39) and the 400-freestyle relay (2:59.80).
YSU women's diver Hanna Held swept victories in each diving event last weekend vs. the Golden Grizzlies, placing first in the one-meter dive with a score of 275.93, and also winning the three-meter dive with a score of 266.40. This marks the third time in Held's career that she has received conference diver of the week honors.
The Penguins will be back in action this weekend, Oct. 10-11, at the Akron Zips Classic inside Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium.
