For the second time this season, YSU QB Beau Brungard has been named the Stats Perform FCS National Player of the Week following his outstanding performance at Illinois State this past Saturday.
Brungard had a spectacular performance passing for a career-high 328 yards while rushing for 200 yards against the Redbirds. The 528 yards of total offense are a school record and ranks fourth in MVFC history.
He accounted for five touchdowns - scoring on rushes of 48, two and one yards while throwing for scores of 53 and 36 in the game while helping engineer his second come-from-behind fourth quarter win of the season.
While no FCS comparisons of his 300-200-yard performance are readily available, he joins Jayden Daniels (LSU), Malik Cunningham (Louisville) and Marques Tuiasosopo (Washington) as Division I players to accomplish the feat in a single game in college football history.
It's his second 200-plus yard rushing performance of the season.
Other National Players of the Week include Rhode Island's A.J. Pena (Defense), Lamar's Ben Woodard (Special Teams) and Samford's Brady Stober (Freshmen).
The Penguins return to action on Saturday hosting Murray State. Kickoff at Stambaugh Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
