Penguins Open Dual Season With Home Contest vs. Marshall

The Youngstown State women's tennis team opens the 2025 dual season with a home contest against Marshall. First serve at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center is set for Noon on Saturday.
The Penguins feature six players from last year's Horizon League regular season title winning team while four newcomers will be going through the dual season for the first time.
In the fall, Julia Marko led the way with 11 singles wins while Lorena Cedeno and Lili Minich each won eight contests. Marko was an impressive 19-10 last year while Cedeno was 18-15 and Yeseniia Ovcharova was 17-15.
Last year The Herd finished with an 18-8 record during the spring, 9-2 in Sun Belt Conference play, to earn the second seed at the 2024 SBC Tournament. Marshall opens the season on Friday with a match at Cleveland State.
This is the first meeting between the schools since Feb. 4, 2007. Marshall owns a 2-0 lead in the all-time series.
YSU posted a 5-4 record at home last season after going 7-2 in in 2022-23. The Penguins play host to Miami (Ohio) on Jan. 25.
