Youngstown State quarterback Beau Brungard was named the MVFC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Penguins' win over Valparaiso on Saturday.

Brungard accounted for five touchdowns with three rushing and two passing in the 59-25 victory. 

He finished the game with 194 yards on 10 carries, which was one yard shy of the school record for rushing yards in a game by a QB. He completed 11-of-14 passes for 125 yards. He scored on runs of four, 65 and 66 and had scoring throws of eight and 73 yards in the win.

YSU finished with 554 yards of total offense against the Beacons.

The other players of the week were LB Ben Bogle of Southern Illinois (Defense); QB Elijah Owens of Indiana State (Newcomer); and PK C.J. Elrichs of North Dakota (Special Teams).

The Penguins return to action on Saturday when they play host to Duquesne. Kickoff at Stambaugh Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
