Women’s Golf Continues Fall Slate Monday at Butler Fall Invitational

The Youngstown State women's golf team will continue its fall schedule on Monday when it begins play in the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Golf & Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Penguins will be going for their third victory of the 2024-25 season after winning the 10th annual Roseann Schwartz Invitational at Mill Creek Golf Course on Sept. 23. YSU secured its second win of the fall slate by nine strokes over runner-up Purdue Fort Wayne with a two-round team total of 586. Youngstown State's 586 ranks as the sixth-lowest 36-hole team performance in school history.
In her third collegiate tournament, freshman Valentina Peña Anaya fired a two-round total of 142 (70-72) to finish tied atop the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Neeranuch Prajunpanich, who also finished with a two-round score of 142 (71-71), was awarded medalist honors based on low final-round score. Each player's performance is tied for the fourth-lowest 36-hole score in program history.
The tournament field at the Butler Fall Invitational will feature players from 16 other schools including Bellarmine, Belmont, Butler (host), Dayton, Eastern Illinois, IU-Indy, Indiana State, Loyola Chicago, Marian, Marshall, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Southern Indiana, Taylor University, UIC and Valparaiso.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday in the two-day, 54-hole event. Monday's first round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. while Tuesday's final session will also commence with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The course will play approximately 6,040 yards and par is 70. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat through links posted on YSUsports.com and the program's social media accounts.
Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU's five-player team lineup will feature Prajunpanich, Peña Anaya, Sofia Perez Escarcena, Maddi Shoults and Lizzie Saur. In addition, Bella Saur will also be competing as an individual for the Penguins.
All five players in YSU's lineup have participated in each of the team's first three events of the fall season. Bella Saur will be competing in her third event of the campaign.
