The Youngstown State women's golf team will continue its fall schedule by playing host to the 10th annual Roseann Schwartz Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
The Penguins are coming off a 10th-place team finish in Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational on Sept. 14-15. Freshman Valentina Peña Anaya finished tied for 13th with a three-round score of 222 (71-76-75) to come in as YSU's top individual finisher. Peña Anaya fired a career-low, one-under-par 71 in the opening round of the tournament.
Youngstown State is hosting the Roseann Schwartz Invitational for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons. The tournament was not held in 2020-21 as the Penguins were held out of competition during the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most recently in 2023-24, the Penguins posted a final-round score of 291 to overcome a five-stroke deficit and storm back to claim the tournament title for the second straight season.
The tournament field at this season's event will feature 12 other schools including Bucknell, Cleveland State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, Indiana State, Kent State, Le Moyne, Mercyhurst, Niagara, Purdue Fort Wayne, Saint Francis and Western Michigan.
The teams will play 18 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday in the two-day, 36-hole event on Mill Creek's North Course. Tee times off No. 1 for Sunday's opening round will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:51 p.m. while Monday's second and final session will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The course will play approximately 6,036 yards and par is 72. Live scoring will be available via the ScoreboardLive app and through links posted on YSUsports.com.
Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU's five-player team lineup will feature Neeranuch Prajunpanich, Peña Anaya, Sofia Perez Escarcena, Maddi Shoults and Lizzie Saur. In addition, Taylor Morrone, Adena Rugola and Bella Saur will be competing as individuals for the Penguins.
