The Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving programs have announced their 2024-25 schedule that will include 11 regular-season meets before the Penguins compete in the highly anticipated Horizon League Championships in February, the program announced Thursday.
Both the men's and women's programs are coming off fourth-place team finishes at the Horizon League Championships for the second-consecutive year, which tied the best finish in history for each team.
The Penguins will open the season at home on September 26 and 27 as they welcome St. Bonaventure to the Beeghly Natatorium.
The month of October is a very busy one, as the Penguins will travel to three meets on the road during the month. The first trip will be to Oakland on October 4 and 5, then the next weekend will be a trip to the annual Akron Invite in Northeast Ohio on October 11 and 12. The month will conclude when the Penguin swimmers travel to the state of New York as they face off with Niagara on October 26.
The Penguins will start the month of November with back-to-back home meets, as they welcome Horizon League foe Cleveland State to town on November 2, and the Youngstown State women will host Saint Francis on November 9. The month of November is capped off when both the swimmers and divers will travel to Cleveland State for the Magnus Cup on November 21 through November 23.
After a three-week hiatus, select distance swimmers will travel to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. For the CSCAA Open Water National Championships hosted by Florida International University on December 15 to wrap up 2024 competition.
The Penguins will open 2025 on the road at fellow Horizon League member IU-Indy on January 10 and 11, before traveling to in-state opponent Denison on January 18 to complete competition in the month of January.
Youngstown State will close out the regular season on February 7 and 8, traveling to Oxford, Ohio, to compete in the Miami (Ohio) Invitational prior to the Horizon League Championships.
The highly anticipated four-day Horizon League Championships will begin on Wednesday, February 19, and conclude on Saturday, February 22 on the campus of IU-Indy in Indianapolis, Ind.
The postseason will continue for select swimmers at the three-day National Invitational Championship in Ocala, Fla. on March 13-15.
The women's NCAA Championships are set to take place on March 19-22 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way, Washington, with the men's NCAA Championships set to occur on March 26-29 at the same venue.
