Andruw Jones Highlights Successful 2024 YSU Baseball Golf Extravaganza

The Youngstown State baseball program wishes to thank all the participants who took part in the team's 2024 Golf Extravaganza featuring Andruw Jones, which was held on Sunday and Monday at The Lake Club in Poland, Ohio.

"The 2024 YSU Baseball Golf Extravaganza was a huge success," said YSU head coach Trevor Charpie. "We could not have asked for a better day to be outside golfing. It was incredibly humbling to be out there with my staff and meet so many great people who support the YSU baseball program. Andruw Jones was an incredible guest, and it was an honor to have him here speaking to the community. Thank you to everyone who made it possible to put these special events on and thank you to all who showed their support for this program. YSU Baseball is blessed to have such great support from the Mahoning Valley and beyond."

The event saw a tremendous turnout as 29 foursomes and 116 players took to the course. Golfers enjoyed food trucks, a massage station and various games that were stationed at different holes throughout the course.

Five-time MLB All-Star and Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame inductee Andruw Jones highlighted the event, speaking at an exclusive dinner on Sunday evening and taking part in the golf outing on Monday.

Cleveland media personality Bruce Drennan was also in attendance. Drennan was the host of the daily afternoon sports talk show "Drennan Live" on the regional sports network Bally Sports Great Lakes. He is also a former MLB and NBA announcer and sports radio personality.

On a sunny day with temperatures in the mid-70s, YSU players, coaches and staff members were able to connect with many familiar faces during the fifth annual event. The program's long-standing support was on full display once again as the field of golfers included former players and coaches as well as fans and supporters. The winning team featured Ed Guveiyian, Bob Hoff, John Hack and John Clegg while the second-place team included Matt McClune, Mike McClune, Mark McClune and Mason McClune.

The YSU baseball program would like to send a special thank you to Leo Henry and The Chestnut Land Company as well as the rest of the event committee (Tanner Avnet, Bob Hannon, Jason Miller and Kevin Stefko) for their continued support and hard work to make this event a reality this year.

The YSU baseball program would also like to thank the following sponsors for their support of the event.

Home Run Sponsors: The Muransky Companies, Otto Environmental Systems, Forming Technologies

Triple Sponsor: Simon Roofing

Double Sponsor: Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods
