YSU's Cote Recognized by NTCA as Nation's Strike Percentage Leader

Youngstown, Ohio -- Youngstown State junior Jade Cote has been recognized by the National Tenpin Coaches Association as the nation's season-long individual leader in strike percentage. The NTCA announced its awards on Tuesday.

Cote struck on 58.2% of her attempts during the regular season with 538 strikes in 924 tries. Cote edged Jacksonville State's Rebecca Hagerman by 0.5%, and YSU's Madison Doseck was third in the rankings at 57.5%. As the Penguins' primary anchor, she was even better in the 10th frame with strikes on 60.4% of her opportunities.

Heading into the Final Four of the National Collegiate Bowling Championship this week, Cote's strike percentage is 58%. The school record for an entire season is 51.9%, which Cote holds from the 2021-22 season.

The NTCA's National Statistical Leader Awards Program recognizes the season-long statistical leaders in seven team categories and six individual categories. The National Tenpin Coaches Association launched this program at the end of the 2017-18 season. YSU's first national statistical leader was Madyson Marx, who led the country in Baker double percentage in 2020-21.

The NTCA will announce its All-America teams, and other annual award honorees this Thursday at the

NCAA Women's Bowling Championship banquet in Detroit, Mich.
