
Women’s Golf Continues Spring Slate Monday at The Julie

The Youngstown State women's golf team will continue its spring slate on Monday when it begins play in The Julie hosted by Northern Kentucky at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.
The Penguins are coming off a sixth-place finish in Cleveland State's Nevel Meade Collegiate on March 18-19 at Nevel Meade Golf Course in Prospect, Ky. Fifth-year senior Danae Rugola placed 16th with a two-round score of 162 (84-78) to pace YSU individually.
The tournament field at The Julie will feature 12 other schools including Cleveland State, Eastern Illinois, Glenville State, Green Bay, IUPUI, Northern Kentucky, Purdue Fort Wayne, Saint Francis, Southern Indiana, Thomas More, Valparaiso and Wayne State.
The teams will play 18 holes on both Monday and Tuesday in the two-day, 36-hole event. Tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 for both rounds are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. The course will play approximately 5,919 yards and par is 71. Live scoring will be available through GolfGenius.com.
Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU's lineup will feature Madie Smithco, Lizzie Saur, Neeranuch Prajunpanich, Titita Loudtragulngam and Adena Rugola. In addition, Chaela Barnett will be competing as an individual for the Penguins.
Barnett, Loudtragulngam, Prajunpanich and Saur have competed in each of the eight events YSU has played during the 2023-24 season. Smithco and Rugola have each participated in seven tournaments throughout the campaign. Smithco is averaging a team and career-best 73.7 strokes per round heading into play at The Julie.
