
Penguins Place Sixth in Tough Conditions at Nevel Meade Collegiate

The Youngstown State women's golf team earned a sixth-place finish in Cleveland State's Nevel Meade Collegiate on Tuesday after battling tough weather conditions throughout the two-day event at Nevel Meade Golf Course in Prospect, Ky.
The Penguins finished the 36-hole event with a two-round team total of 655 in cold, windy conditions. YSU posted a 331 in the opening round on Monday before moving up three spots on the leaderboard with a 324 in Tuesday's final session.
Danae Rugola placed 16th with a two-round score of 162 (84-78) to lead the Penguins individually. The fifth-year senior's final-round 78 featured 10 pars and a birdie on the par-five No. 7.
Lizzie Saur finished tied for 21st with a two-round total of 164 (82-82). The junior recorded birdies on No. 2 and No. 9 during the final round of play. Neeranuch Prajunpanich tied for 26th on the individual leaderboard with a two-round 165 (81-84).
Titita Loudtragulngam finished tied for 31st with a two-round score of 166 (86-80). Playing as an individual, Chaela Barnett finished tied for 39th with a two-round total of 168 (80-88). Adena Rugola tied for 42nd with a two-round 169 (84-85).
Oakland and UIC each posted a two-round team total of 626 to finish tied atop the team leaderboard and share the tournament title. Bellarmine placed third with a 642, Indiana State finished fourth with a 649 and Cleveland State rounded out the top five with a 654.
UIC's Dasa Urbankova earned medalist honors by five strokes at two over par with a two-round score of 146 (72-74).
Youngstown State will continue its spring schedule next week on March 25-26 with The Julie hosted by Northern Kentucky at Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.
