
Men’s Golf Returns to Action Monday at ECU Intercollegiate

The Youngstown State men's golf team will return to action on Monday when it begins play in the two-day ECU Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina at Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
The Penguins will return to competition for the first time since opening their spring season with the World Golf Village Collegiate at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla., on Feb. 19-20. Senior Justin Atkinson finished tied for 30th with a three-round score of 220 (76-70-74) to come in as YSU's top individual finisher for the fourth time in six tournaments this season. The Brookfield, Ohio, native is averaging a team-best 72.6 strokes per round through the first six events of the 2023-24 season.
The tournament field at the ECU Intercollegiate will feature 14 other schools including Barton College, Dartmouth, East Carolina, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, IUPUI, Marshall, Oakland, Queens University, Fairleigh Dickinson, Samford, Temple, UCF and USC Upstate.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday in the two-day, 54-hole event. Tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 for Monday's first round will begin at 7:45 a.m. while tee times for Tuesday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. The course will play approximately 6,803 yards and par is 72. Head Coach Tony Joy has announced that YSU's lineup will feature Atkinson, Dean Austalosh, Michael Porter, Jacob Sylak and Jimmy Graham. In addition, Jake Ryan will be competing as an individual for the Penguins.
Atkinson and Austalosh have competed in each of YSU's first six events this season while Sylak has participated in five tournaments. Porter has competed in four events, Ryan has competed in two and Graham has competed in one thus far in 2023-24.
