Guins Prep For Home Contests With NIU, Xavier

The Youngstown State men's tennis team plays a pair of home matches this week as they play host to Northern Illinois on Friday and Xavier on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
Both matches are set for 11 a.m. starts.
The Penguins are 3-0 at home this season with wins over Binghamton, Butler and Georgetown to start the campaign. In the past two weekends, YSU has played four matches in three different states.
Nathan Favier leads the Guins with five singles wins this spring while Onder Balci has won four times. Favier is 3-2 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 in the No. 2 spot.
NIU enters the weekend with a 6-2 overall mark having won four straight matches while the Musketeers are 1-7. Xavier has beaten Northern Kentucky (4-3) and lost to Cleveland State (4-3) this spring.
YSU's last victory over Xavier was Jan. 29, 2006. The Guins defeated the Huskies in Youngstown on Feb. 18, 2022.
