Four Penguins Head to Cleveland For HL Individual Championships

Four members of the Youngstown State women's tennis team will be in action at the Horizon League Individual Championships which get underway on Friday in Cleveland at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
YSU will send Lili Minich, Lorena Cedeno, Julia Marko and Ghana Dirninger up the Ohio Turnpike to take on a full Horizon League field.
Singles action begins at 9 a.m. on Friday.
In the first round, Dirninger faces Milwaukee's Nadiia Konieva (9 a.m.), Cedeno faces Oakland's Edie Hammond (10 a.m.), Minich is in action vs. Milwaukee's Elisa Rubio (10:30 a.m.) and Marko takes on Oakland's Nisa Bulut (12:30 p.m.).
Doubles matches for the Guins are Marko and Cedeno vs. Warisara Lee/Martyna Piechowicz of Oakland (5:30 p.m.) and Minich and Dirninger against Oakland's Emilia Jarvinen and Josie Ward (6 p.m.).
Marko is off to a fast start to the fall winning five of six singles matches so far this season.
The tournament will consist of 32-Player Singles and 16-Team Doubles. The schedule for the weekend will be as follows:
Friday – 9 a.m.
Friday will consist of two main draw singles and one main draw doubles.
Saturday – 10 a.m.
Saturday will also consist of two main draw singles and one main draw doubles, but will also feature consolation matches.
Sunday – 11 a.m.
Sunday will feature the singles final, doubles semifinal, and finally the doubles final.
