Penguins Open Dual Season Against Binghamton

The Youngstown State men's tennis team opens their dual season with a match against Binghamton on Saturday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
The Penguins posted a 13-11 overall record last year while the Bearcats were 4-20 a year ago. Youngstown State last played Binghamton on Jan. 26, 2020, a 4-3 win by the Guins. The Bearcats are in action on Friday when they visit Cleveland State.
YSU returns five members from last year's squad – Nathan Favier, Asier Pena Ibanez, David Alvarez Moreno, Clement Mainguy and Harry Fouzas. That group is joined by newcomers William Rassat, Onder Balci and Nishant Dabas.
Saturday's home dual marks the YSU home debut of Head Coach Kody Duncan. Duncan took over the program in late October.
During the fall, Balci led the way with eight singles wins while Favier, Fouzas, Moreno and Rassat all picked up five victories. In doubles play, Dabas collected nine wins while Favier had eight and Balci had seven.
The Guins are 26-3 all-time in the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. Last year at home, YSU was 8-1.
YSU was last in action on Oct. 29 at the Viking Invitational.
