Loudtragulngam Leads Penguins to Fifth Victory at YSU Spring Invitational

Junior Titita Loudtragulngam earned medalist honors to lead the Youngstown State women's golf team to its fifth victory of the season on Friday at the YSU Spring Invitational at Youngstown Country Club in Youngstown, Ohio.
The Penguins posted a single-round team score of 307 to finish 16 strokes in front of runner-up Cleveland State. Saint Francis U placed third in the three-team tournament with a score of 331. Each of the top five individual finishers and six out of the top seven were Penguins.
With its fifth victory of the 2022-23 season, YSU has tied the single-season school record for wins. It marks the fourth time in program history that the Guins have won five tournaments in a campaign. The Penguins also won five events in 1997-98, 1999-20 and 2020-21.
Loudtragulngam won the tournament by two strokes to earn medalist honors for the first time in her career. The junior fired a four-over-par 75 that featured an even-par 36 on the front nine. Loudtragulngam becomes the third different Penguin to collect medalist honors this season.
Madie Smithco and Christina Lewis each fired a single-round 77 to tie for second place. Smithco posted a one-over-par 36 on the back nine. Puthita Khuanrudee and Adena Rugola each recorded a 78 to tie for fourth while Danae Rugola finished tied for sixth with a 79. Danae Rugola notched a two-over-par 37 on the back nine during her round.
Lizzie Saur finished tied for ninth with a single-round 81 while Chaela Barnett placed 19th with an 86. Barnett and Adena Rugola each competed as individuals.
Youngstown State will have its final tournament before the Horizon League Championships on April 15-16 when it competes in the Navy Spring Invitational at the United State Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
