Women’s Golf Set to Compete at Navy Spring Invitational

The Youngstown State women's golf team will continue its spring schedule on Saturday when it begins play in the Navy Spring Invitational at the United States Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
The Penguins are coming off a 16-stroke victory at the YSU Spring Invitational at Youngstown Country Club on April 7. YSU posted a single-round team score of 307 to earn its fifth victory of the 2022-23 season and match the single-season school record for wins. This season marks the fourth time in program history that the Guins have won five tournaments in a campaign. The Penguins also won five events in 1997-98, 1999-20 and 2020-21.
Junior Titita Loudtragulngam fired a four-over-par 75 at the YSU Spring Invitational to earn medalist honors for the first time in her career. The Chonburi, Thailand, native was named Horizon League Women's Golfer of the Week on Thursday for her performance. She became the second different YSU golfer to earn the award this season. Loudtragulngam is also one of three Penguins who have claimed an individual tournament crown in 2022-23.
The Navy Spring Invitational will be YSU' final tune-up before the Horizon League Championships, which will take place April 23-25 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The Hills, Fla.
The tournament field at the Navy Spring Invitational will feature seven other schools including Bucknell, Dartmouth, Fairfield, Lafayette, Navy, Wagner and Yale. The teams will play 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday in the two-day, 36-hole event. Tee times for Saturday's first round will begin at 9 a.m. off No. 1 while Sunday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The course will play approximately 6,084 and par is 72. Head Coach Nate Miklos has announced that YSU's lineup will feature Danae Rugola, Madie Smithco, Christina Lewis, Lizzie Saur and Loudtragulngam. In addition, Adena Rugola will be competing as an individual.
Loudtragulngam, Danae Rugola, Saur and Smithco have competed in each of the 10 events that YSU has played this season. Adena Rugola will be participating in her seventh tournament of the campaign while Lewis will be taking the course for the sixth time this season.
